Privacy Policy
Beta version · Last updated October 5, 2026
This policy explains what Ask'n Check ("we") collects, why, who sees it, and how long we keep it. It follows the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
1. What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Mobile number | Sign-in with a one-time code; one account per number |
| Name and birthdate | Your profile; checking that you are 18 or older (your birthdate is never shown to others) |
| Tasks: place, map pin, instructions, reward, deadline | So a checker can do the check |
| Your exact location when you check in at a task | To confirm the checker is at the place |
| A rough location (about 500 m), only if you turn on "Available for tasks" | To send you "new task nearby" alerts |
| Proof photos, with the time and location they were sent | The answer to the task. Phone details and GPS inside the photo file are removed on your phone before upload |
| Your GCash QR (checkers) | So the requester can pay you |
| GCash reference numbers and receipt screenshots (optional) | Payment records and payment disputes |
| Chat messages, ratings, reports and blocks | Talking about the task, trust and safety |
| Your phone's notification token and quiet hours | Sending task alerts |
| Emails you send us | Answering you |
We don't collect your contacts, your files, or your location in the background.
2. Legal basis
We process your data to provide the service you signed up for (our contract with you), with your consent for optional features ("Available for tasks", receipt screenshots), and where needed for safety, disputes, or legal duties.
3. Who sees what
- People you do tasks with see your name, rating, checks done and tasks posted.
- Checkers see a task's place and pin, never the requester's home or number.
- Requesters never see a checker's live location or home. They see the proof, and the checker's GCash QR only after approving the proof.
- Chat is only between the requester and the checker of that task.
- Receipts are seen only by the requester and checker of that task.
- Reports are seen only by Ask'n Check. Who you blocked is seen only by you.
- Mobile numbers are never shown to other users.
4. Service providers
We use these companies to run the app. They process data only for that purpose:
- Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in (servers in Singapore).
- Semaphore: texts your sign-in code (sees your mobile number and the code).
- Cloudflare: the robot check before a code is sent (sees your IP address and basic browser and device signals, not your account), and hosting of this website.
- Google Firebase: delivers notifications (sees your notification token and the alert text).
- OpenStreetMap: map pictures when you pick a task location (sees your IP address and the map area, not your account).
- Google Play services: reads the reference number from a receipt and finds the QR in a GCash screenshot, on your phone. The image isn't sent to us for this.
We may also share data with authorities when the law requires it. We don't sell your data.
5. How long we keep it
- Proof photos and receipts: deleted 90 days after the task ends (done, cancelled or expired). Not while the task is under review or has an open report.
- Rough "available" location: deleted when you turn it off, or after 12 hours.
- Sign-in limit: a one-way code (hash) of your number is kept for 1 hour to allow at most 3 codes per hour.
- Notification token: deleted when you sign out.
- Account data: kept until you delete your account.
- Task records, chat, ratings and reports: kept so both people can see their history and so we can handle disputes and safety reports. We will set a fixed time limit after our legal review and update this policy.
6. When you delete your account
Your name, birthdate, GCash QR, mobile number, notification tokens, notifications and blocks are deleted, and your open tasks are cancelled. Finished tasks, ratings, chats and reports stay for the other people involved, shown as "Deleted user". If the account had strikes in the last 90 days, a suspension or a ban, we keep a one-way code (hash) of the number and the strike dates, so a new account with that number gets them back. See Delete your account.
7. How we protect it
Encrypted connections, access rules on every table so people can only see what this policy allows, private file storage, and limits on sign-in codes. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.
8. Your rights
You have the right to be informed, to access your data, to correct it, to object, to have it erased or blocked, to data portability, to claim damages, and to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission. Email us to use any of these rights; we reply within 15 days.
9. Age
Ask'n Check is only for people 18 and older. We delete accounts we find that belong to minors.
10. Changes
We'll tell you in the app before an important change applies.
